About

Richard grew up in the suburbs of southern New Jersey. He graduated as a philosophy major from Rutgers College, and later received his law degree from UCLA.

His legal career took him from Houston to San Antonio and back to New Jersey. He focused on corporate and commercial law, and authored a widely cited law review article on corporate liability in environmental cases.

Richard began writing fiction while practicing law, and these days writes full time. He studied craft in the Writers Studio creative writing workshops, and later honed his fiction skills in the Stanford University Continuing Education Certificate Program in Novel Writing. His short stories have been published in Euphony and elsewhere.

Richard and his wife Cheryl live in Texas where Richard works with Houston Volunteer Lawyers to offer pro bono legal services. He indulges in hiking, bowling, and reading. His library of jazz recordings is decent.

“If we do not act, we shall surely be dragged down the long, dark, and shameful corridors of time reserved for those who possess power without compassion, might without morality, and strength without sight.”  —Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
